Network Segmentation
Means of reducing the scope of a PCI DSS assessment by reducing the size of the cardholder data environment. To achieve this, systems that do not store, process, or transmit cardholder data should be isolated from those systems that store, process, and transmit cardholder data via network controls. See Network Segmentation section in the PCI DSS Requirements and Security Assessment Procedures for guidance on using network segmentation.
