Z UPSUninterruptible Power Supply - usually a battery-based system to protect devices against power outages, sags and surges. source: ISO/IEC18028-4, 2005 (uninterruptible power supply) system An arrangement of batteries and supporting hardware components that are configured to provide smooth, continuous power to computer equipment. The UPS system acts as a buffer between the outside power source, so that power surges and spikes are minimized.
