logic bombs

Programs that activate upon the occurrence of a certain event, such as the passing of a date or the failure of its creator to reset a special counter. When the event occurs, the “bomb” is triggered and the program performs some malicious commands, such as reformatting the hard drive of a server or shutting down a host computer.
